Foster’s Fund is based on a pledge I made when first elected to parliament in 2015. I pledged to not only oppose the 10% pay rise proposed for MPs at the time, but to reject it via donations to local charities if IPSA implemented it despite my objections.

I renewed this pledge at the recent General Election and have promised to continue Foster’s Fund until at least May 2024. Since 2009 MPs have not voted on their own pay.

The latest round of awards saw PATH (£500), RE4orm (£500), Torquay Community Larder (£300) and Babbacombe in Bloom (£200) receive support for projects including relocating to a new permanent base, creating a kitchen on a mobile community hub and efforts by volunteers to plant more flowers in their community.

Over the last four years over £20,000 has been made available via Foster’s Fund to support local charities. I was pleased to renew this pledge at the recent General Election and to support these four groups who are working to make a difference in our bay.
